From geopolitical fractures to the mounting pressure of decarbonization and the rise of carbon pricing frameworks, every shift is accelerating a deep restructuring of the energy industry. Within this current of change, Vietnam is shaping an energy transition pathway that reflects both national identity and a strong integration with global standards for sustainable development. For Petrolimex, that journey begins with deliberate, steady, and purpose-driven steps. “Green Footsteps for a Greener Vietnam” is not merely a slogan – it is the way Petrolimex act every single day, as we continue fulfilling our mission to safeguard national energy security while taking the lead in building a responsible and sustainable growth model.

In 2024, Petrolimex made significant strides toward realizing a green transition. Across the entire system, we implemented a wide range of synchronized solutions aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing operational efficiency – from installing rooftop solar power systems and vapor recovery units at service stations, depots, and terminals, to conducting greenhouse gas inventories and providing training on hydrogen fundamentals. We have explored next-generation biofuels and assessed the potential of recycled feedstocks such as used cooking oil to support our production activities. In parallel, a series of digitalization and automation initiatives have been comprehensively deployed across our retail and logistics operations – not only to boost productivity, but also to optimize resource usage and reduce energy losses. These actions are not merely theoretical ideals; they represent the tangible outcomes of our ongoing collaboration across a nationwide network, where green transformation moves beyond the page and starts with every square meter of depot rooftop, every fueling station, and every emission metric recorded. And throughout this journey, it is the unwavering and persistent efforts of the entire system that are laying a solid foundation for the Group’s longterm sustainable development goals.

“The Journey” from National to Global

Beyond tangible achievements, Petrolimex has proactively aligned with Vietnam to affirm our position in global discussions about the green transition by engaging actively and effectively in the government’s green policies and initiatives. We haveregistered six pilot energy transition projects across our member units and collaborated with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to promote carbon market mechanisms and a just energy transition. Furthermore, the Group has signed and expanded strategic partnerships with global players such as ENEOS, ARAMCO, GEAPP, and innovation platforms like NIC. For us, connecting resources in knowledge, technology, and market access is essential for meeting our transition commitments—responsibly, effectively, and tailored to Vietnam’s specific conditions.
